This error is more of a report than an error. It's purpose is to get the user to alert you to the problem which is simply that the Publishing Dates were not set correctly when you as Admin first manually approved the listing. Thus the listing can't expire because the publish down date is the Mtree default value of:0000-00-0000:00:00which is basically interpreted as never expire. To fix you'll need to Edit the Subscription from PaymentsPlus Manage Subscriptions and set the correct publishing conditions.
See from page 43 in the PaymentsPlus 2.20 user manual to see what triggers the different statuses.If however you are adding and approving listings from Mtree Admin then you've bypassed the PP system and you'll need to override the publishing conditions and set them accordingly to show the payment options.

PaymentsPlus User - Sales Process
Step One:
User logs in to website
Username: UserTest
Password: DemoUser Directory
Step Two:
User navigates to the category where they want to place a listing. then selects the Type of Listing they want to place by clicking in the Add Listing link
Step Three:
The Add Listing Form opens, If more than one product option is available then the user selects a subscription option (try a featured listing) and the user completes the details then clicks the submit button. On submitting the form Mtree sends an email to both User and Admin notifying a new listing has been added. Note this first Email is generated by Mtree not PaymentsPlus but can be switched off in Mtree's configuration settings.
Step Four:
The page redirects to My Listing Management where the user can see a summary of all their listings and their current status. Form here the user selects a payment option either PayPal or Offline method.
If PayPal, the user is redirected to the PayPal website for payment. If the payment is approved PayPal will update the database using the IPN system and auto approve the listing setting its publish down date according to the subscription purchased. If the user wishes to cancel the subscription, then they need to do so via their PayPal account. On successful payment both PayPal and PaymntsPlus will send confirmation emails to both Admin and the User
If Paid by Off Line method, the subscrition needs to be manually set by Admin in PaymentsPlus Manage Subscriptions.
On submitting the form emails are sent to both Admin and the User with the transaction details notifying of a pending payment. When Admin approves or rejects the offline payment an optional email can be sent to the user from the Manage Subscriptions console.
